Nisse dolls

My aunt made these "nisse" dolls when I was a little girl, and I can't remember one Christmas without them. I suppose they were made mainly for decoration, but when I came home from work today my daughter were taking them for a ride on her tricycle. Which is how it should be. "Nisser" like to play.

The Norwegian nisse is originally a pre-Christian folklore figure, that somehow was fused with modern Christmas traditions.

Oooh, they're fab. I love having a look at other people's traditions and heirlooms that come out around Christmas time!
